Welcome to the MSMA-Lone Star Chapter - HOWDY!
MSMA & YOU: The Network You Need For The Job That You Do!
MSMA is a national not-for-profit association dedicated to the advancement of professionals in mail, print, fulfillment, e-commerce, facilities management and shipping/distribution. Founded in 1981, MSMA membership is nationwide.
Houston Mail Systems Management Association (MSMA) is starting 2018 as the Lone Star Chapter MSMA. The decision to combine the Texas chapters to strenthen the foundation in preparation for planned increases in membership and scope of the organization was a first step in many planned for the rebranding of MSMA.
This MSMA chapter was formed in 1993. The original 5 members also became the first chapter officers and those members are retiring or leaving the industry at a rapid rate. Mail however is not going anywhere. Regulatory requirements in government and other industry ensure print and mail will always be relevant and new thinkers are needed to keep up with the technology and demand.
On that note, we are saying farewell to our retired President Sally Rowland-Ketley. Sally served as MSMA chapter President 4 times during her membership. She has retired as Director of Print and Postal at the University of Houston who honored her at a retirement event on February 9th, her last day. We want to thank Sally for all she contributed to the organization, laying the foundation for us to take up the torch and embark on a new era of MSMA membership. Good luck Sally in whatever you determine your future in retirement to be. We will miss you!
Currently the association is working on rebranding and re-organizing the back office in an effort to support the increased scope of networking and education. E-commerce, logistics, marketing, shipping and distribution and a host of other business areas that are growing exponentially in new and emerging technologies must be incorporated in the offerings offerings of the association to it's membership . We continue to engage speakers whose messages resonate cross-functiionally and across industries. The countless universities, convention facilities, USPS, United Way, theatre/art district, and sports complexes have and will continue to be the backdrop for facility tours and educational events as well as networking opportunities across the gulf coast states to accomodate all of the chapter city members.
The current board looks forward to the next 20 years for the future members of the entire gulf coast region. We will be a Texas-sized chapter!
To everyone within our Association and to those who want to expand their knowledge and network of mail and distributiion systems by becoming a member of this prestigious organization of professionals we are calling you to action. To begin the journey with management professionals involved with domestic and international mail, office and logistics services, e-commerce, marketing and communications, leadership, networking, shipping/receiving, transporation and much more, join us or go to https://www.msmanational.org/ for additional information about offerings at the National level. The National Association supports each and every chapter as you will see.
Sally, your dedication and contributions to MSMA will be long lasting and are very much appreciated. Thank you for your mentorship and your legacy. Have a great retirement, you deserve it!
Sally Rowland-Ketley, CMDSM, MDA (former chapter President)
